4 Libraries in Seoul You'd Want to Visit Every Day 1. Odong Forest Library https://www.newsis.com/view/NISX20241018_0002925733 https://blog.naver.com/yaongii113/223735694087 Located in Seongbuk-gu, the Odong Forest Library won the Grand Prize at the 2024 Seoul Architecture Awards. Opened in May 2023, this library is a wooden building harmoniously integrated with nature, offering a space where visitors can enjoy both reading and relaxation while admiring the view of Wolgok Mountain from the windows. 2. Cheongun Literature Library https://www.ikoreanspirit.com/news/articleView.html?idxno=79165 Cheongun Literature Library, located in Jongno-gu, is Seoul's first public library in a hanok (traditional Korean house), opened in 2014. The first floor is a hanok, and the basement level features a Western-style library, yet the two styles blend perfectly without feeling out of place. The hanok's roof is made with handmade traditional tiles, and the tiles used on the love room and the wall surrounding the pavilion were salvaged from the demolished hanok in the Dongnimmun New Town area, with 3,000 tiles repurposed for this library. 3. KWAC: Korea War Archive Center https://opengov.seoul.go.kr/mediahub/30277678 Did you know that there is a "library" inside a museum? Museums are typically places to see exhibitions or occasionally participate in cultural events such as lectures or workshops. However, recently, libraries have been integrated into some museums. These libraries stand apart from regular libraries. The War Memorial, which exhibits the history of wars and the protection of our country, serves as a memorial space and a place for reflection about the future through its exhibitions. The museum's architecture also reflects the historical era it represents. 4. Gangbyeon Book Café Lastly, while it is not a library-library, I want to introduce Gangbyeon Book Café, one of my favorite places in Seoul. It located near the National Assembly in Yeouido(Korean capitol building). This book café will immediately catch your eye with its wide windows and books placed around the space. If you enjoy reading while overlooking the Han River in a cool, air-conditioned space (the AC is important though), I highly recommend visiting this book café. It is hidden gem of the city and the pastries there are great, too. All rights reserved Stay14 Bespoke
