This year's festival has the theme of "the river where all kinds of fun gather," and it aims to showcase the beauty and pleasure of each season that can only be felt at the Han River. The festival is a cultural activity combined with a spring outing space at the grassy lawn of Ttukseom Han River Park, to celebrate Children's Day. The existing programs, such as the "Under-the-Bridge Used Bookstore Festival" and "Han River Bookstore," will be transformed into an outdoor library concept called the "Han River Park for Reading." Visitors can use the grassy lawn near the dragonfly park from noon to 8 pm without any separate membership, lending, or return process to read 1,000 books, including fairy tales, picture books, and pop-up books. Six publishers specializing in children's and young adult books will participate in the festival, and various photo walls designed from one of their picture book scenes will be displayed throughout the venue. Visitors can also enjoy 13 original paintings of "Subway to the South Pole" by artist Kim Sung-chan and a one-person puppet show of "Art Time, Magic Time" by author Kim Li-ra. The main program of the Han River Festival, "Han River Starlight Theater," will take place from 2 pm to 7:30 pm next to the Han River Park for Reading. The festival features various experiential programs and theater performances that are uniquely organized for each day, and from May 5th to 6th, a Han River Drone Light Show will be held as part of the "Seoul Festa 2023" at the water's edge stage of Ttukseom Han River Park from 8 pm. With the theme of "Imaginary Playgrounds," drones will present popular characters among children, such as Pinkfong and Baby Shark. Detailed information about the Han River Festival can be found on the official festival website (festival.seoul.go.kr/hangang), as well as on Facebook and Instagram. As the venue is expected to be very crowded, Seoul City kindly asks visitors to use public transportation whenever possible. The summer festival of the Han River Festival will be held from July 28th to August 13th, offering a variety of leisure, cultural, and ecological experiences. The fall festival will be planned to enjoy the autumn atmosphere while watching the sunset on the Han River, and the winter festival will be held from December 1st to 25th, marking the end of the year.
